U-pick blueberries at Trickle Creek Farm

One of my favorite parts about summer is starting those lazy Sunday mornings with homemade blueberry pancakes fresh from a hot cast iron pan.

Those pancakes are all the sweeter when they're made with u-pick blueberries. Not only are those blueberries literally plucked at their peak season for perfect flavor and ripeness, but there's just something so satisfying about having picked them yourself.

I was a little late to the blueberry picking party this summer, but I managed to sneak in a trip to Trickle Creek Farm, located at 3620 on Highway 9 in Mill Spring, NC on the last day of their u-pick season... and I walked away with a whopping 5.5-pound haul for less than $20. PANCAKES FOR DAYS!

I've driven by Trickle Creek Farm for about two years now, promising myself I'd stop and check it out sometime. I'm so glad I did! I was lucky enough to spend the morning harvesting blueberries alongside Cheryl, one of the owners of this darling 5th-generation family-owned farm.

Trickle Creek Farm specializes in blueberries, blackberries, and private events. Their beautiful property rests in a valley along a beautiful mountain stream, and it's the loveliest place to spend the day.

It was such a pleasure to learn about the history of the farm, and I loved learning that Trickle Creek Farm invites a non-profit group of volunteers to harvest the leftover crop after the last day of u-pick and the remaining berries go to local soup kitchens.
